CORPORATE VULTURES AND CULTURES ARE EVERYWHERE, AND THOSE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY ARE EXTREMELY PERNICIOUS.

THE RASTAMAN AND HIS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS HAD DIFFICULTIES TRYING TO WORK IN BABYLON SYSTEM.

IF PEOPLE WITH TALENT IN MUSIC ARE WHAT MAKES THE INDUSTRY WORK, THEN THOSE WITH TALENT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO- NOT BE DENIED ACCESS TO -SHOWING THAT TALENT AND CREATIVITY.

BUT, DON’T BE FOOLED, THIS LOGIC DOES NOT APPLY TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.

THE TRUTH IS THIS-THEY ALL WANT TO OWN AND FULLY CONTROL- THE CREATIVE TALENTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL.

SHOULD THE INDIVIDUAL FAIL TO BE- OWNED- BY THE INDUSTRY, THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE, AMONG OTHER THINGS- ACCESS DENIED.

I AM NOT SPEAKING FOR THOSE WHO FEEL ITS OK TO BE OWNED BY A GROUP OF VULTURES WHO BOAST ABOUT- THEY MAKING YOU BECOME WHO YOU ARE- BECAUSE YOU HAVE SIGNED A CONTRACT OF SERVICE i.e. A RECORDING CONTRACT.

I AM ALL FOR HONORING A VERBAL OR WRITTEN AGREEMENT. BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH AND THOSE WITH THEM DID SO HONOR THEIRS WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

BUT THE STRUGGLES THEY FACED WERE ENORMOUS. THEY PERSEVERED.

FOR AS – ISLAND RECORDS- CHRIS BLACKWELL- SAID AT THE TIME- ” HE DID NOT EXPECT, AND WAS TOLD BY OTHERS , THAT THESE BOYS FROM TRENCH TOWN, WOULD NOT RETURN ON HIS INVESTMENT”( PARAPHRASED).

WELL TO HIS SURPRISE THEY DID, TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT HIS NAME BECAME ASSOCIATED WITH A GROUP OF POOR, TALENTED, AND DIGNIFIED TRENCH TOWN YOUTHS,  AND WITH THE REGGAE I CREATED WHICH THEY SANG, AND AS THEY SAY, THE REST IS HISTORY.

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN REALIZED WITH OR WITHOUT ISLAND RECORDS.

THE CREATIVE TALENTS OF THESE INDIVIDUALS WAS SUCH THAT NOTHING COULD STOP THEM FROM BECOMING  WHAT THEY WANTED TO BE.

THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW THE STRUGGLES AND THE PROBLEMS THEY FACED WHILE TRYING TO BE WHAT THEY WANTED TO BE. I WILL ONLY SAY THIS: THE ROAD WAS NOT EASY FOR THEM.

SO FOR THOSE WHO WILL SAY THAT- ISLAND RECORDS- MADE THEM FAMOUS, I WILL SAY- NONE SENSE!

ISLAND RECORDS BECAME FAMOUS BECAUSE OF BOB MARLEY, AND HIS GROUP OF WAILERS WITH PETER TOSH AND BUNNY.

THE REGGAE MUSIC THEY PLAYED CAME FROM US IN TRENCH TOWN AS MY CREATION WITH JUNIOR BRAITHWAITE AND OUR ORIGINAL WAILING WAILERS.

ISLAND RECORDS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH REGGAE CREATION, NOR DOES IT HAVE OWNERSHIP OF MY COPYRIGHTS IN REGGAE.

REGGAE CANNOT BE BRANDED. IT CANNOT BE COMMODITIZED. IT IS NOT A CORPORATE ENTITY. IT IS MY CREATION.

ATTEMPTS ARE BEING MADE TO DECEIVE PEOPLE, AND TO MISREPRESENT WHAT REGGAE, AND THE RASTAMAN MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT.

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WANTS TO CONTROL CREATIVE ABILITIES. THOSE ARTISTS WHO ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BECOME THE SLAVES OF VULTURES IN BABYLON CAN DO AS THEY WISH.

THE LATE GREAT ARTIST- PRINCE- SHOWED THE WORLD THAT HIS CREATIVE ABILITIES WILL NOT BE COMPROMISED. HIS EARLY DAYS WITH WARNER BROS. WAS A TESTAMENT TO THIS TRUTH.
